During lockdown like a lot of other people I put on quite a lot of weight due to too many take aways and not enough exercise. So, one day I just decided to do something about it and started running.
I have now been running for several years mainly between 5-15km several times a week , so I am probably fitter than I have been for a decade or two.
When I received an email about running for charity, I decided to enter the Hackney half marathon on behalf of Cancer Research UK. It seemed only logical to choose a charity that was personal to me and my family.
Most people in the UK are affected by cancer at some point in their life and I am no exception. My nephew Luke was only 4 years old when he was diagnosed with non- Hodgkin’s lymphoma and spent several months in Great Ormond street hospital in 2012. Fortunately, he has made a full recovery. Also, my nan passed away from bladder cancer in 1999.
Thank you for viewing my page and any donation however small would be welcome for this worthwhile cause.
